Camouflage – Ambush Predation

Reduce, Reuse, Consume

Most ambush predators use camouflage in order to lie in wait from their prey. My favorites often include bottom-dwelling fish as their methods of camouflaging into the sea floor typically make them incredibly ugly by our standard. Species like stargazer fish, the frogfish or the wobbegong shark have evolved their flesh to appear like their surroundings. This gives them the effect of looking like underwater garbage.

My camofleur project incorporates this form of camouflage plus my own interpretation of it, wherein I have made a suit out of recyclable grocery bags.
